Soak Up the Sun

A Boutique Hotel Near Barcelona’s Beaches

Life’s a beach in Barcelona

It’s almost unfair that a cosmopolitan hotspot like Barcelona, with its world-renowned architecture, vibrant dining and nightlife scene and acclaimed cultural attractions, is also home to a multitude of beaches. Not that we’re complaining—each of the city’s beaches has a distinct vibe, so whether you’re looking for the boisterous energy of Barceloneta, the serenity, sand and surf of Nova Mar or something in between, you can find it on one of Barcelona’s platges. Discover a few of our favorites below.

Barceloneta – Perhaps Barcelona’s most popular beach, Barceloneta is a short walk from the attractions of the City Center. Buzzing with activity, restaurants, sporting facilities and Sangria sellers, it’s excellent for people watching while you soak up the sun.

Nova Icaria & Bogatell – Less crowded than Barceloneta, head north to access these adjoining beaches. Built in preparation for the 1992 Olympics, a diverse selection of beach and water sports options are available in a nod to their athletic origins. A great choice for families or anyone looking for a more laid-back beach experience, Nova Icaria & Bogatell are easily accessible via public transportation.

Sitges – If you’re open to turning a beach visit into a day trip, Sitges is a must-visit. About 40 minutes from Barcelona, Sitges has 17 sandy beaches from Bassa Rodona, the main LGBTQ beach to the peaceful Platja de les Anquines to the bustling Platja de Sant Sebastià. And when you’ve had your fill of sun and sand, pop into the lovely town of Sitges itself or walk the picturesque seafront promenade.
